About Privacy Practices
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) was enacted by the United States Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1996. Title II of HIPAA, established rules to protect the privacy of a patient’s health information.
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) was enacted under Title XIII of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. HITECH created additional rules related to the privacy of a patient’s health information.
As a covered entity under HIPAA and HITECH, Laurel Health Care Company strives to meet all federal and state privacy rules related to health care.
